Overview
Highschool students can join 3-day experiential learning programs to gain hands-on experience working with older adults through Senior Care Navigation Workshops and Adult Day Centres. Collaborate with NBCC and UNB nursing learners while developing critical thinking, communication, and technology support skills. Build meaningful intergenerational connections and contribute to person-centered care.
Under the direction of NBCC clinical coordinators and in collaboration with UNB Bachelor of Nursing, NBCC Practical Nursing, and NBCC Personal Support Worker learners:
High School Students will have the opportunity to:
- Learn and assist in the delivery of the Senior Care Navigation Workshops/Adult Day Centres. Critical Thinking
- Engage in Intergenerational Connections by providing person-centered, meaningful activities for Aging Adults in the Adult Day Centres.
- Support the family/friend Caregiver or Aging Adults in the classroom or virtually with computer navigation and technology support. Intergenerational transfer of knowledge.
- Enhance communication skills with older adults and family/ friend caregivers. Focus on face-to-face active listening and providing support for activities in classrooms and adult day centers.
- We welcome high school students and are very flexible with hours of availability.
