This resource is specifically designed for Grade 10 Science

The Centre of Excellence for Energy is pleased to announce that a new and exciting resource has been created by Electricity Canada and Electricity Human Resources Canada. This resource, Electricity Now, is designed to help teachers meet the energy topics outlined in Science 10.

Electricity Now is an all-in-one resource that offers a practical and teacher-friendly “Electricity and climate change program in a box” that simplifies complex topics through 6 modules and 13 engaging lessons that includes hands-on activities, multimedia resources, and comprehensive student and teacher notes. The program is written for the Canadian context and highlights career pathways in the energy sector.

Topics include Climate, Change, Renewable Energy, Static Electricity, Current Electricity, Generation, Electrification, Circuits, and future technologies investigated through six modules:

Module 1 – The Chemistry of Climate

Module 2 – The Shocking Solution

Module 3 – Generating Power

Module 4 – Our Electric Homes

Module 5 – Sustainable Energy

Module 6 – The Future is Electric

Each module is designed using the Smarter Science Framework, developed by Youth Science Canada and emphasizes the development of fundamental science inquiry and critical thinking skills.

The resource has English and French versions, with the French version to be ready by the end of the month.

Kits to support this resource will also be available in the coming months, registering for the resource will ensure your school receives a materials kit.
