Green Micor-Internships with the Gaia Project

NB province-wide
Ongoing
Areas of interest: Careers, Engineering, Environment, Science, Technology

The Green Micro-Internships program in New Brunswick gives Grade 9–12 students the chance to spend a day at an environmentally focused workplace, shadowing a green-career professional. Students can tour real facilities, take part in conversations, and get an inside look at projects and roles that exist in their communities. This one-day, high-impact opportunity is designed to help students explore future pathways and make meaningful connections.

By taking part, students gain an introduction to the workforce, firsthand workplace experience, and industry connections, all while developing valuable skills they can highlight on their résumés. It’s a practical way to see how sustainability work makes a difference in New Brunswick while also preparing for future career opportunities.

The hosts, called “Green Experts,” are professionals working in the province’s green sector. They are competent volunteers who undergo screening by The Gaia Project, including criminal record checks, and are committed to welcoming students. Their goal is to inspire and introduce the next generation to the workforce in a supportive and engaging way.

To participate, students simply submit an Expression of Interest form through The Gaia Project’s website. A Gaia staff member will then connect them with a suitable placement and confirm their micro-internship day. For more information or to apply, students can visit the Gaia Project website or email contact@thegaiaproject.ca.
