What would you put on a Canadian bank note?
Join the Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship, the Centre of Excellence for Language Learning and the Bank of Canada Museum for a hands-on Bank Note Design Challenge that invites students to think creatively about Canadian identity, design and the stories we choose to celebrate.
Kick-Off Event
The challenge begins with a live virtual session featuring Bank of Canada Museum staff. Students will:
- Explore Canadian bank notes and learn about who and what is featured on them
- Meet and learn about different careers at the Bank of Canada
- Get inspired to create their own bank note design
After the kick-off, students will work in their classrooms to design their own bank note, making creative decisions about what and who they choose to feature. Students will explain the meaning behind their design and why they believe their selection deserves to be represented on a bank note. All required materials and instructions will be provided to support students in completing the activity.
Bank Note Design Showcase
Each participating class will select one student to represent their class at a virtual Bank Note Design Showcase. Student finalists will present their designs to a panel of Bank of Canada Museum judges and explain why they chose to feature their selected person, place, symbol or idea.
A winner will be selected from each group, with the winning student earning a classroom prize for their class!
