Overview

Administrators of K-5 schools in New Brunswick are invited to register to receive a kit developed by the Centre of Excellence for Digital Innovation, in collaboration with the McKenna Institute, to support digital literacy education.  Interested schools will receive copies of 6 books to accompany the 12 Learning Activities outlined here.  The resources are accompanied by a recorded professional learning session from Adam Binet (former COE-DI Lead) and Amy Tompkins (former COE K-5 Resource Development Specialist).  These activities have been piloted in New Brunswick schools with very positive feedback from learners and educators!  The intention is for all grades K-2 and 3-5 classes in the school to complete a set of 6 curriculum connected lessons, each supporting one component of the New Brunswick Digital Literacy Framework.

The New Brunswick Digital Literacy Framework provide a holistic approach to digital literacy and includes the following 6 components: Digital Citizenship; Digital Health and Wellness; Critical Thinking and Meaning Making; Creativity, Design, and Problem Solving; and Communication and Collaboration.

The Centres of Excellence stive for equitable access to resources and opportunities across New Brunswick. When quantities are limited, they will be distributed considering (1) registration date and (2) equitable distribution across schools and districts. For more information, contact COE@gnb.ca.

After receiving the kit, participating schools will be asked to provide educators with a short survey to fill out that will help us continue to improve Centres of Excellence learning supports (5-10 minutes to complete).  Your feedback is important to us.
