Girls STEM Up 2024: Bridging Gaps

Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM

On February 24th, 2024, young women across Atlantic Canada will have the opportunity to come together and envision their futures in the exciting STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. The sixth annual “Girls STEM Up: Bridging Gaps” conference aims to increase engagement and respect for women in STEM by facilitating conversations on leadership and empowerment.

This year’s conference is titled “Bridging Gaps” to highlight the need for connection – between generations, disciplines, and people from all backgrounds. Keynote speakers and interactive breakout sessions will provide attendees inspiration as well as tangible skills to help them pursue fulfilling careers in STEM. By learning from each other and celebrating diversity within the scientific community, we can work to eliminate longstanding gender gaps.

High school and university students are encouraged to attend, as are educators looking to bring a group from their school or host a satellite event focused on this important topic. Building support systems and providing access to opportunity – that’s what it will take to encourage the next generation of women in the sciences. Conferences like Girls STEM Up 2024 play a crucial role in making progress.
