Minecraft Education Series: Free PL and Co-Taught Lessons for Teachers Throughout November

You are invited to join us for this special workshop and co-taught lesson series where we’ll guide you and your class through the basics of Minecraft Education, along with bringing literacy, numeracy, and coding into our lessons.

Your journey will begin on November 20th for the 30-minute Educator PL and then we invite you and your class to join us in any or all of the following 4 co-taught lessons taking place between November 22nd and December 1st.

30-Minute Educator PL – Getting Started with Minecraft Education
November 20th at 3:15pm Atlantic

Join us for this 30-minute dive into the basics of Minecraft Education! Inside this educator workshop, you’ll learn the basics of Minecraft Education and how to set it up for your class. You’ll gain an understanding of what Minecraft is, how to navigate the game, how to place your first block and how to share worlds.

Whether you’ve tried to use Minecraft Education in the past, or this is your first year exploring this classroom tool, this workshop will give you the confidence to start exploring MCEDU with your class.

1-Hour Co-Taught Lesson: Minecraft Basics – Movements and Building
November 22nd at 9:00am Atlantic

Inside the first lesson, we’ll learn the basics of building in Minecraft, allowing your students to unleash their creativity by building a local landmark of their choice. We’ll explore ways to level up a build using tools only found in the Education Edition!

As students will be at all different levels in their Minecraft journey, this lesson will support everyone from beginner to advanced user – no experience required.

1-Hour Co-Taught Lesson: Bringing Literacy into Minecraft 
November 27th at 1:30pm Atlantic

This lesson is all about Literacy! Your students will create a short story in Minecraft using their build from November 22nd. We’ll use tools such as the book and quill, signs, and even NPCs to help promote writing by completing a few creative writing tasks using your students’ unique builds. 

1-Hour Co-Taught Lesson: Bringing Math into Minecraft 
November 29th at 9:00am Atlantic

In this lesson, we’ll explore Numeracy concepts and use the XYZ graphing coordinates to become master builders! To top it all off, we will finish by showcasing ways to document student thinking inside Minecraft and share their learning with you, their teacher!

1-Hour Co-Taught Lesson: Hour of Code with Minecraft Education
December 1st at 1:30pm Atlantic

Can you escape the estate? Join us for this Hour of Code Minecraft Education lesson. Students will use block-based coding and computational thinking to unlock secrets, open trap doors, and reveal hidden clues to escape the mysterious mansion by dawn.
