MediaSmarts is Canada’s centre for digital and media literacy, offering a wide range of free lesson plans, projects, activities, and other resources (available in French and English) to help Canadian educators teach students critical thinking skills for navigating the digital world. Their materials cover topics like online privacy, cyberbullying, social media, fact checking, media influence, and more. Resources are available for K-12 classrooms and are mapped to each province/territory’s curriculum standards. MediaSmarts supports educators through tip sheets, webinars, tutorials, and professional development days. Their site also has resources for parents on supporting their kids’ digital literacy. Everything they offer is available for free to Canadian educators and families.
