Teach Nutrition and COE Health are excited to share NEW STEM activities during the month of April.
Educators are encouraged to utilize the kits/activities and take pictures of the students “in action” throughout the month of April.
Educators who register, explore the resource with their students, send pictures to COE Health Intern, Emily Mason (emily.mason@gnb.ca) and complete the post survey by May 1st will be entered to win a prize!
Grades K-6 – Butter in a Jar:
PRIZE – Classroom Grow Tower
Explore the science of food with this STEM activity. It’s a great way to mix science and food with learning! This ready-to-use kit contains printable instructions for the teachers and a record sheet for learners. Learners will experience how to make butter and buttermilk by shaking cream and salt in a jar. They will also get to see the whipped cream stage.
Grades 7-12 – Ice Cream in a Bag
Prize – Class set of thermometers (15 in a class set)
Explore the science of food with this STEM activity. It’s a great way to mix science and food with learning! This ready-to-use kit contains printable teacher guide and student workbook with experiment. Students will make ice cream with a few ingredients, science and muscle power. They will lower the freezing point of water and shake the cream mixture until it freezes.
