About

Overview

Please join COE Health, Horizon Health and members from the NBCC medical laboratory programs in a recorded session.

NBCC will provide information about the programs: the 1-year MLA certificate program and the 2.5-year MLT diploma program.

Employees in Laboratory Services at Horizon will join the session to share their experiences of unique laboratory careers, starting from college applications to working in the various divisions in the laboratory and beyond.  Horizon’s Education Placement Specialist will explain Job Shadowing and how to gain access to this experiential opportunity.

Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs) and Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) work around the clock to support healthcare through essential testing services in hospital settings. With a growing demand for their expertise, both professions play a crucial role in patient care.

These skilled professionals provide accurate and timely test results, ensuring reliability and quality in every analysis. They test a wide range of samples, including blood, throat swabs, and urine, delivering critical data that doctors, and healthcare providers rely on to make informed medical decisions.

By working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, MLAs and MLTs contribute to optimal patient care, ultimately enhancing health and well-being. Their dedication and precision are fundamental to the healthcare system, making their role indispensable in modern medicine.
