OVERVIEW

We are excited to be partnering with the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) and their members to promote a whole week (May 21-24) dedicated to enhancing the knowledge of learners about the skills desired from today’s manufacturers and the careers that exist in this industry in New Brunswick. 

Presenters have designed their presentations for students in GRADES 6-12.

Below is a list and description of each presentation available. 

Dive into the Aquaculture World of Atlantic Salmon – A LIVE Virtual Presentation – Tuesday, May 21, at 1:15 p.m.

Ever wondered about the journey of a salmon from a tiny egg to a 5.5 kilo fish, ready to be enjoyed on your plate? Explore the incredible world of aquaculture and discover the diverse array of professionals working on or under the water, in our office, plant and workshop or behind the wheel of a transport truck! Learn about the essential skills required to farm salmon off the coasts of our Atlantic provinces and how aquaculture has become a cornerstone of food production, contributes to the economies and cultures of coastal communities, and how sustainable production methods ensure that it remains a vital part of our food supply for generations to come.  Join Chalena Biggar, Director Health & Safety and Chuck Brown, Director Corporate Culture & Employee Communicatons for an enlightening presentation that could shape your future in the industry. Powering Through Craftmanship: The Joy of Building Boats – A LIVE Virtual Presentation – Wednesday, May 22, at 1:15 p.m.

Did you ever wonder what it would be like to go to work, create something that brings joy to peoples lives, and be able to make a good living while enjoying life yourself? Join Scott Hanson, CEO of the Limestone Boat Company Limited, as he highlights his journey from his early inspiration at the Wooden Boat School at NBCC St. Andrews, to a degree in traditional wooden boatbuilding, to marine design engineer and now back to running a boat manufacturing operation in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Scott will discuss their innovative paid 14 week training program, their positive and supportive working environment and opportunities for additional training and advancement. Unlocking the Future of Ambulance & Vehicle Modification – A LIVE Virtual Presentation – Thursday, May 23, at 1:15 p.m.

Interested in modifying cars? At Malley industries, not only do we modify vehicles, we manufacture all the components to create the incredibly versatile ambulances and specialty vehicles like wheelchair accessible vans. We provide these vehicles for customers across New Brunswick, Canada and the US.  Join our virtual presentation to learn about the exciting career opportunities and the processes in making all the components as we convert cargo vans into emergency and mobility vehicles. Explore the different skills and trades that makes this manufacturing process possible. Join Deji Ayoola, P.Eng, Engineering and product development manager at Malley Industries as he presents about their facility that works to help enhance and improve the mobility of individuals with disabilities and the ambulances that save lives. 

A Journey through the Modern Manufacturing Landscape – A LIVE Virtual Presentation – Friday, May 24, at 1:15 p.m.

Are you curious about manufacturing but unsure of what it really involves or how you could pursue a career in this field? Join Sylvie LeBlanc, Production Manager at Systemair, who will share her personal journey in manufacturing, emphasizing on the role women play in this dynamic industry. She will highlight the vast opportunities available and the technological advancements that are shaping the future of manufacturing. Additionally, she will showcase how Systemair is committed to innovation and how the company is embracing innovation to drive success in the manufacturing sector.
