Instructions

1. Discussion: What is Long Term Care?

Long-Term Care refers to a range of personal support, physical, social and mental health services required by individuals who, because of long term functional limitations, need assistance to function as independently as possible. – NB Social Development, 2024

Are there Long Term Care Homes in our community? Have you visited a Long Term Care Home before? If so, what did you notice?

2. Using Slides 2-7 of the PowerPoint Presentation, have learners try the Interactive Trivia, with facts about Long-Term Care Home here in New Brunswick.  Discuss: “Did anything surprise you? Why?

3. Have BINGO cards ready to distribute. Decide on how to win the round – vertical, horizontal, diagonal, 4 corners, etc. Pass out counters to each pair playing.

*If playing in a classroom: Have a learner call the cards and edit the PPT, accordingly. Once a winner is found, have another learner call and choose another way to win. If playing in a Long Term Care home, place 1 learner with 1 resident using the Resident BINGO Cards – with larger font and pictures. Have a learner call the game (and adjust PPT slides) and look for a winner.*

4. Discuss: “What were some of the career options mentioned in our game? Were there some that were new to you? Are there even more that were not mentioned? Why would a Long Term Care Home offer so many different job possibilities?”

Extension Ideas:
