Overview
During this 30-minute recorded session, learners and educators will learn the meaning of mindfulness and why it is useful to learn and practice in the classroom.
Learners and educators will learn how to regulate their breathing when they become anxious or overwhelmed – these techniques will help them be mindful by focusing on the present moment. Students will learn mindfulness breathing techniques using the “Balloon breathe and Volcano Breathe”, practice the “5-star breathing” technique and activating the vagal nerve exercise.
A K-5 Mindfulness Teacher resource kit created by the COE for Health and is now posted on the COE website. The Resource Kit has 8 beautiful mindfulness lessons for teachers and students to use in their classrooms and outside in nature.
