MyBlueprint Education Planner is a comprehensive education and career/life planning program with tools students can use to make informed decisions about their future. It is secure and accessible to all NB students in grades 6-12. Within the platform, students have the ability to create multiple digital portfolios, that can easily be shared with others (e.g. families, post-secondary institutions or employers), and will remain with learners throughout their school years and beyond.

As noted in the video, learners have the choice of uploading videos that were created with another application as well, such as flip or imovie. Students will need access to a digital device.

Although the myBlueprint platform is first and foremost a student planning tool, here are some examples of how educators can make the most of the digital portfolio function available.
- Create class lists – to view student portfolios

- Provide valuable feedback to their students directly in their portfolios

CEFR planning and assessment tool:
How can you help your learners demonstrate the growth of their French oral language skills in a digital portfolio? First, familiarize yourself with the Common European Framework of Reference as a planning and assessment tool and the Action-Oriented Approach. Using an Action Oriented Approach when planning involves starting with the end goal in mind – the completion of the real-life task – and working backwards through a needs analysis to help learners build the competences required to accomplish the task. The descriptors that guided the development of the task are the same descriptors that are used transparently throughout the assessment process. Sharing with your learners how the descriptors align with the learning objectives and their personal goals is an important first step (prior to introducing the digital tool).

Integrating digital language portfolios:
Below are ideas on different approaches that can be taken by educators as they explore how to integrate digital language portfolios into their learning environments. Reflect on what approach best meets your specific needs.
In preparation to integrating language portfolios: Ideas
- Introduce students to CEFR levels/descriptors and the related learning objectives.
- Create folders for learners with printed out CEFR skill descriptors for individual self-assessment and personalized goal setting.
- Backward-design lesson planning. Ensure learning and teaching is aligned with continuum of CEFR levels/descriptors and action-oriented approaches.
- Co-construct action-oriented activities with students or try using AI to ideate different scenarios that could be tied to the CEFR can-do statements and your learning objectives.
Managing portfolios: Ideas
- Design independent activities for students to complete and upload independently as an assignment.
- Design partner or group activities that students can then upload independently in the classroom (centres)
- Conduct individual interviews, that students could upload with teacher guidance.
- Encourage learners to actively and regularly seek ways to personalize and record evidence of their CEFR skill development in their digital portfolio.
