Calling all grades 6-8 in the ASD-E region!
The COELL is excited to partner with Satellite Theatre to provide an ongoing, immersive French theatre experience for middle schools.
Satellite Théâtre is a creation and touring company with a strong physical and visual signature. For the past 18 years, they have had the pleasure of performing across the world! They have also had the privilege of sharing their educational approach with school, community, university, and professional settings, both here in Canada and in Japan, Mexico, France, and England.

This year, the COELL and Satellite Theatre are pleased to announce a project launch, specifically for students in French immersion programs with the theme Le français en mouvement. They are currently training artist-facilitators so that they can share their approach to theatre, which places the body, voice, listening, play, improvisation, and collective creation at the heart of learning.
Satellite Theatre will be attending select schools once a week, from October to April for a total of 24 French-language theatre classes. The program is specific for grades 6-8. Through age- and group-appropriate exercises and creative activities, students will be encouraged to imagine, react, collaborate, and express themselves in French, while developing skills related to physical theatre, including risk-taking, collaboration, communication and co-creation, confidence in physical and stage expression, spatial and rhythmic awareness, self-confidence, and public speaking.
The process will lead to two opportunities to share the students’ work: an open class before the holidays, held in the usual workshop space, followed by a public performance in the spring.
