** NEW Health Sciences at NBCC Program Overview **
What is the program?
- Health Sciences at NBCC is a new one-year certificate program that provides a foundation in healthcare education or to further your education in allied health or nursing programs.
Who should take it?
- Candidates who have applied to other health or nursing programs and are on a waitlist or those who are not quite certain of the health discipline they want to study are ideal candidates for this program.
Where is it offered?
- The Health Sciences program is offered at the NBCC Saint John Allied Health Education Centre on the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ) campus. We are collocated with UNBSJ, Dalhousie Medical Education New Brunswick and the Saint John Regional Hospital
When does it start?
- September 2025
Why is it multiple disciplines?
- The health science program is designed to provide the learner with exposure to both nursing and allied health sciences to provide a broad base of skills and knowledge. Students will participate in courses related to nursing/personal support work, medical laboratory sciences, pharmacy technician and respiratory therapy. A practicum placement in long term care will prepare the graduate to work as a healthcare aide. Prior learning credits may be applied for subsequent programs in the School of Health & Wellness for those pursuing discipline specific studies.
