Overview

10 Outdoor Lessons is created by “Love Outdoor Learning”  Home – Love Outdoor Learning – Enhancing Learning Outdoors and provides students with curriculum-based outdoor learning. It consists of 10 separate lessons, each consisting of different topics, including math, literacy, technology, expressive arts, science, and social studies. These lessons promote the importance of curriculum content with the added benefit of learning in an outdoor environment.

Strand: Play and Playfulness – Big Idea: Play and Inquiry – Skill Descriptor: Engage in activities that introduce elements of risk, novelty, and the unknown.

Personal Wellness 3-5

Strand: Wellness – Big Idea: Healthy Lifestyle – Skill Descriptor: Explore personal health habits that contribute to wellness.

Personal Wellness 6-8

Strand: Wellness  – Big Idea: Healthy Lifestyle Skill Descriptor:Examine personal health habits and their impact on the seven domains of wellness.

Personal Wellness 9

Strand: Wellness  – Big Idea: Healthy Lifestyle. – Skill Descriptor: Demonstrate knowledge of health habits that have a positive impact on self.

What you’ll need

(*Not all materials are needed for each activity. Materials vary depending on activity)

  • A computer to watch the videos
  • The PDF of the activity
  • Pencils, crayons, pencil crayons, etc
  • Paper
  • Camera, tablet, phone (optional)
  • Chalk
  • Clay or loose materials to create make “the green man”
  • Collected sticks, leaves
  • Wool/string/yarn
  • Paint
  • Wool/Paper/Card/Scarf or other on-hand items (to insulate their ice cube)
