Overview
Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of careers in health and social care, including allied health professions, through three engaging and interactive card game stations. As they rotate through each activity, students will learn about the roles, responsibilities, education and training requirements, and key skills associated with different careers.
The games are designed to encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and discussion while helping students make connections between career pathways and personal interests. By the end of the activity, students will have a broader understanding of the diverse opportunities available within the health and social care sector and the important contributions these professionals make to the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

Instructions
- Step one: Read through health career collectible cards PowerPoint as a class
- Set up 3 stations around the classroom, have one game at each station (go fish, medical memory game, guess who)
- Divide the class into three groups and have each group start at a station
- Each group rotates through each station
#1: Medical memory game
-Print two sets of the cards
-Can be played in groups of 2-4 players
-Shuffle cards and place all cards face down, scattered around.
-First person grabs one card and reads out loud one fun fact, puts the card back down, picks another card and reads out loud one fun fact (if it matches, collect the two cards). The next person does the same thing. Continue to play until each person has 3 matches.
#2: Go fish
-Print two sets of the cards
-Can be played in groups of 2-4
-Shuffle and deal 5 cards to each student
-Place remaining cards in a draw pile
-Students keep cards hidden
-Student 1 asks “do you have a medical lab technologist?” to another player (student 2). The other player (student 2) either says yes I do (player 1 collects the pair), or no I don’t (player 1 picks from the draw pile and either collect their pair if they found it, or put the additional card in their pile).
-Once a pair has been collected (either from another player or from the draw pile), that player will read out one fun fact about the card in their pair.
-Play until the draw pile is gone
-Whoever has the most pairs wins the game
#3: Guess Who? (Career Edition)
-Print one set of cards
-Played in groups of 2 players
-Shuffle cards and give each player 3 cards
-Each player will pick one card for their first round and the goal is to guess the other persons card first
-Students ask YES/NO questions with the help of the cheat sheet
-Students are also provided with a cheat sheet with the descriptions of each career but not the name of the career, so that this can help them identify the career and know which questions to ask. **Attached as word doc**
Ex:
“Do they work in a hospital?”
“Do they help with emergencies?”
“Do they use machines?”
Extension ideas (optional)
- Students will choose one career to do a small research project on and present in their groups (UDL options: PowerPoint, written form, video, drawings, etc.)
